In any case, I gathered some info on various Aria Pro II (Korea) guitars, their serial numbers and their (claimed) year of production. I hate maths, so I'll let you decypher their system.

On the page linked below (warm-up your Google Translator) we have guitars with serial numbers and claimed dates of production: S020613517= 2002. S98025946= 1998. On this page the guitar is claimed to be a 1997, with a serial number of S97056473: All that is well and good, and seems rather straight-forward. But then we have your serial number: S6078776, which you think might be from 1987 (I'd like to know what info you got to come to that---for science!) And now we have this Korea-made guitar with a serial number of: S6115992.

I don't know if date info is in the link, but from the bridge/tailpiece hardware and the turners, I think it might be a very early Korean (like you said, the change-over occurring around 1987). Only thing I can figure is that the very early Korea-made versions of this guitar have a different numbering system than later, less ambiguously serialized guitars. (a system more like the Japanese-made instruments, perhaps?) I'll let smarter folks figure this out. I need a drink.
